The Tuesday Night Machines - Experimental Modular Synth Soundscapes by @Flixxx

A new episode of The Tuesday Night Machines for a change... this one is nice...

Time for some experimental sounds! Felix started with pinging his two Eurorack filters (uVCF & Voice of Saturn) and went patching from there.
The Vermona DRM-1 drum synth is routed through the Kaoss Pad Quad and sequenced with the MPC 1000. The rest of the sounds are from the modulars doing their own thing, while only receiving the MPC's clock.

Random Video: MDLB by Maria Della Batteria

Now here's something you don't see very often:
YouTuber Maria Della Batteria shows how he triggers his modular synth with his drumset, via 2 A-119 External Input modules...

Dieter Doepfer at MusikMesse 2014 by @mmag_ru

Almost a month after MusikMesse 2014 the Russian MusicMag published this video of Dieter Doepfer explaining the very basics of modular synthesis.
Not groundbreaking, but nice for the archive...

LCF Industries Arp-8 Eurorack Arpeggiator

LCF Industries uploaded a video of the Arp-8 arpeggiator prototype to YouTube.
Price and availability are still unknown, but the features are pretty impressive...

" Something was missing from my growing modular. I couldn't figure out what it was. Then after playing with a Polysix for a while it hit me; An arpeggiator!

So using the MIDI-CV Converter I made, I started playing around with the code a bit. And then a couple of hours later I came up with a pretty decent arpeggiator. It didn't have much control (only the two switches) but it worked! So the next step was to expand on it but still keep it as small as possible.

Octave knob: Selects between a 1-4 octave range
Rate knob: If synced with a MIDI clock, it will divide the tempo accordingly; 1-1

V/Octave Out
Hz/Volt Out
Gate Out
Clk In: Bypasses MIDI-clock messages and uses an external clock source.
Directional switch: Up, Down, Up/Down
Sync Switch: If no external clock sourc…

Twisted Electrons Octopus Eurorack CV Sequencer Module Preview

Twisted Electrons has been a relatively unknown brand on the hardware market, so far they only released a bunch of apps and the (hardware) AY3 synth for chip-tune music based on the AY8912 from vintage machines.

Now it looks like they are getting into Eurorack with their new Octopus CV Sequencer module.
They uploaded this video preview today, but there's not much info yet.
It looks nice, i hope i can add the details soon...

Build a Modular Synth in seven months! by @ScorbieUK

Scorbie built an impressive modular in just 7 months, and in this video he shows the result.
Almost 25 minutes of modular goodness...
Video: Build a Modular Synth in seven months!

" After seeing the modular documentary I Dream Of Wires, I decided back in September of 2013 I wanted to get one. After months of obsessing and invaluable help from a few friends and people in the modular underworld, my first case is just about complete.
Even building my own now!
Rick Holt of Frequency Central & Rickard Steffensen from Sweden have been incredibly patient and supportive and I will forever be grateful.
Made a couple really good friends.

Doepfer A-138 On/Off Switches Modification by Philippe Beaubrun

Philippe Beaubrun posted a few pictures on Facebook about his small Doepfer A-138 modification.
He added 2 HP wide breakout panels with 4 switches next to the A-138, to turn the individual channels on or off.

The pictures are quite clear, so re-creating this mod will be a piece of cake...

Personally I would prefer my switches on a 4HP wide panel for cosmetic reasons, but this doesn't look too bad.

Quick Tip: Velcro Cablebinders

Okay... I'm re-organizing the studio (again) and came to the conclusion that it was a good idea of me to use Velcro cable-binders to keep my audio- and MIDI-cables together, the last time that i put up my current setup.

It was a piece of cake removing the old ones, and it works better than the plastic cable-ties (tie-wraps) that I used before that.

Velcro cable-binders can be found in a lot of different colors and sizes at your local hardware-store or cable-supplier.
You can even think about color-coding your cables this way and use different colors for audio / MIDI etc...

Some (audio-)cable-manufacturers even package their cables with Velcro cable-binders nowadays, and often they are long enough to cut into a few smaller ones...

Organzoner posted a great video with a step-by-step tutorial on how to expand the capabilities of the Doepfer Dark Energy 2 by adding a breakout box...

Doepfer A-112 Sampler Modular Digital Delay by LESINDES

Another nice video via YouTube.
LESINDES shows a weird-sounding delay-effect, created with a Doepfer A-112 Sampler...
Too bad the patch isn't explained in the video, but nevertheless interesting enough to watch/listen.

Doepfer Sound-Sampler Ad from 1984

This old Doepfer ad popped up at recently. It's an ad for the Doepfer Sound Sampler that was released in 1984. This module was the precursor of the A-112 Sampler that was released more than a decade later...

Although the ad is in the German language, i found it interesting enough to share it here with you (with the English translation below)
